Thank you, Mircea. I have replied to your PM with my thoughts about the way your National Team has been vilified by accusations of cheating in the UK press.
I know how hurtful this must be for you and your team, and for all Romanian carp anglers. As someone who has followed the development of Romanian carp fishing over the past decade with interest, I know full well that you are being portrayed as cheats in order to cover up the inadequate preparation of the England team.
Please be assured that not everybody feels the same way, and once the jingoism that surrounds this unexpected performance by the English team dies down, people will see for themselves that you simply out-fished and out-performed your competition, using tactics and bait that was freely available to all.
As you point out, all the top teams used the same bait that was used by the Romanian team. Why the UK team chose not to do the same is somewhat baffling.
The three reasons for this poor performance that you outline in your post say it all, as far as I am concerned.
Romania won fair and square and no amount of "sour grapes" accusations can disguise this fact in my personal opinion.
Hello, and thank you for this message.
I am very sympathetic to your position and have exchanged via e-mail with Vlad Pavlovici about my concerns, which he shares. I fully understand your distress and while I would like to help, I am not in a position to correspond with the team captain of the UK team, as I am merely a concerned individual with a love of Romania and Romanian carp fishing that goes back ten years.
I am certain that the use of the word "cheating" by the Team England manager is very ill advised, and is used simply to try to conceal his inadequate preparation for the invent. The reasons why the team did so badly are perfectly clear for all to see, namely:
1. No practice sessions fished, even though these were freely offered by your nation..
2. Wrong bait for the venue.
3. Not using a bait that was freely available to all teams, and that was used by all the successful teams that took part in the competition.
This level of incompetence is inexcusable, hence the Team England management is trying to obscure your victory with false accusations.
I am sure that the FIPS will take no notice of these pathetic accusations and that your National Team will be revealed as the true and rightful winners of the Championship.
Good luck for the ......
Kind regards
Ken Townley.
Căpitanul angliei trebuie cumva să se scuze pentru clasarea dezastruoasă.......
